"upbeat & bongly' is happening at The Strongroom, on Saturday 21st February 2004...

We've been invited by those funky people at The Strongroom, Shoreditch, to host a series of binglybongly Saturday nights in their cosy haven.
It's another chance to see and hear some of the binglybongly DJ bunch, who'll be creating an exotic mix of smooth, percussive & upbeat musical jiggery pokery to make you smile from ear to there.
If you like your Saturdays to involve great music, keen bar prices and a friendly crowd, you simply must join us at upbeat & bongly.
It's free to get in, and if you've got a binglybongly badge, it's still free. It starts at 8pm and carries on till 2.00am

about the Strongroom...

"Unless the advertising board is on display outside the venue, it is most likely that you'd walk straight past The Strongroom. This is still possible in spite of the building's grim green and mirrored glass exterior. Don't let this minor obstacle put you off, the entrance is far nicer and tucked away down the alley.
There are two floors inside; the upstairs has a small restaurant section (which, incidentally, does great food) and the bar. The staff are also some of the most friendly you'll find in the area. The two floors are joined joined by a winding staircase with a painted and stencilled interior and downstairs is very warm and inviting.
This is one of the best places in Shoreditch for a bit of catching up on chilled conversation with friends and slowly getting hammered into the small hours. The Strongroom has been around for ever as far as the ever changing bar scene of Old Street goes, but has managed to remain innocuous and a little 'underground'.
This place is well worth a visit if you're in the area - you never know who might be taking refuge away from the other packed Shoreditch bars."
